If you have never smelled Coach leather, and I mean well-aged, pre-1990 (and most certainly pre-printed/woven logo textile Coach) leather, you haven't lived (if something about animal rights is running through your head right now, please scroll down to the bottom of the page in which the three asterisks on the title, which you ignored, are explained in full).
Though my relationship with Coach's fine leather goods was reignited and extended through my tween (I just threw up at the use of that word) years and was encouraged by a close mate of mine during the time that Coach was debuting its trend collections and expanding past well-crafted but simply designed leather handbags and wallets, the first spark occurred when I took my mother's wallet from her and smelled it for the first time.
Ah. Yes. What is that? It's irresistible, even to a very small child. It's leather. Fine leather. Fine leather shaped and molded into a piece simultaneously practical and beautiful.
As elegantly as can be said, Game. Changer.
My mother still has the same wallet. And it still smells (and looks!) like expertly crafted fine leather. And I still take it out of her purse to smell it when I'm home.
So, to celebrate my impending employment with the mother of all leather crafters and a darn good 'ole American tradition (Coach was even inspired by baseball way back in 1941 when the company was founded! #america)...
Today's Things:
-- You might be confused that I'm not showing any handbags, or any leather goods at all, but I can't control this. I'm like the Long Island Medium - things just speak to me. So be it. You should still go smell some leather. --
Sister 1 is all about some elephants. And the color blue. And this has both, without screaming where she might have bought it at, which she isn't really into. And I like that about her.
I mean, UGH, she needs both, right?! If you knew her, you would respond, "Yes. Right. Absolutely. Of course." You may be getting bored with the shellfish thing happening for Sister 2, but don't you feel like you're getting to know her? You made a new friend.
Sister 3: Steffi Heel in Navy/Gold, $119 orig $228
The minute Coach released these, this shoe actually came out of my computer screen and said, "Yes. We would like to live with you." They have also been taunting me via my mobile device, featured almost daily on the brand's instagram account. And now they're on sale. I die.
***I'm sorry. I can't care about animals rights right now. Or potentially for the tenure of my upcoming employment. Yes, I think they're important. Yes, it makes me sad. But, just go smell my mom's wallet, and then maybe you could start to understand. Until then, I acknowledge and appreciate your disgust.
